Why is it smart to imagine how a particular floor will look with pet hair if you have dogs or cats?

Pets shed. Some a little, some a lot. Their hair and dander will land wherever they walk, lie or shake themselves out—and yes, that includes your floors.

Certain colours and finishes make every hair strand jump out visually. Dark floors with light pet hair, or very smooth surfaces with any shed, can look dirty within hours of cleaning. Slightly mid-toned, patterned or textured floors hide this better.

When choosing, imagine your pet lying there after a grooming session. Does every single hair scream at you in your mental picture? If yes, that might mean more frequent cleaning than you’d like. A more forgiving shade can reduce that constant “I just cleaned this!” feeling.
