Fridge door seals (gaskets) are those soft rubber strips that touch the body when you close the door. They’re what keep cold air in and warm air out. When they become cracked, loose, or warped, tiny gaps open up. The appliance then has to work harder to maintain temperature, wasting electricity and wearing out faster.
You can do a simple test: trap a sheet of paper in the door and try pulling it out. If it slides easily in many places, the seal may not be gripping well. Also look for visible cracks, flattening, or mould buildup.
Fixing or replacing a gasket is usually cheaper than paying higher power bills for years and then replacing a tired fridge early. Good seals mean the fridge runs more efficiently and your food stays at a safer temperature.
