Reusable cloths are great—cheaper, less wasteful, and often more effective than disposable wipes. But if you keep using the same ones without washing them properly, they become little dirt and bacteria carriers. You think you’re cleaning, but you’re actually smearing old grime around.
Having a simple system helps. For example: cloths used in the bathroom go straight to wash after one or two uses; kitchen cloths get rinsed daily and machine-washed every few days; dusting cloths get shaken out and washed weekly. You can even colour-code them by area.
Regular washing with decent detergent and proper drying (ideally in sunlight) keeps them fresh and ready to actually clean, not contaminate. It’s a small hygiene upgrade that also makes surfaces look better.
