Water doesn’t always show up right where the problem is. A small leak from a pipe joint behind a bathroom wall can travel down and outward, eventually appearing as damp or swollen skirting boards in the next room or along a corridor.
If you notice paint getting bubbled, plaster flaking, wooden skirting warping, or a faint musty smell near the floor close to a wet area, don’t ignore it. That’s often a sign of slow, continuous moisture rather than surface condensation.
Spotting it early lets you call a plumber or leak detection specialist before the damage spreads. Left alone, that moisture can invite mould, damage flooring and even affect structural elements.
