Ultra-light floors show everything: dust, shoe marks, tiny scratches, even a stray hair. Ultra-dark ones do the same, just in reverse. A mid-tone or slightly darker shade often gives you the best balance.
Daily scuffs from shoes, minor dents, and general wear blend more easily into the medium tones. You still see dirt when it’s genuinely dirty, but you’re not punished visually for every small mark.
This is especially handy in busy households or entryways, where life naturally leaves traces. Picking a colour that’s not at either extreme saves your sanity and your mop.
