Brokers and listings rarely highlight, “By the way, this lane turns into a pond every monsoon.” Residents, however, usually remember exactly where water collects, how high it rises, and how often it happens.
Asking a few people who live there—shopkeepers, building guards, neighbours—whether the area floods in heavy rain gives you real-world information. Do cars get stuck? Does water enter basements or ground floor houses? Are roads impassable for hours?
This matters for safety, car maintenance, health (stagnant water and mosquitoes), and basic convenience. You don’t want to discover on your first rainy season that you live in a mini lake.
A quick, honest chat can reveal more than a polished brochure ever will.
