Tiles and laminates look totally different under showroom lights—bright, even, and often cooler than in a typical home. You might fall in love with a glossy white tile there, only to find it looks harsh and reflective in your slightly dim hallway.
If you first stand in your room at different times of day and really observe the light—how sunny it gets, which corners stay shady—you’ll know whether you need warmth, brightness or softness from your finishes. Then when you go to the showroom, you can test samples under similar conditions: step near a window, away from direct lights, or better yet, borrow a small sample and bring it home.
Seeing the material in your actual light helps you avoid surprises. Colours that felt perfect in the store might look greenish or too dull in your room. This extra step can mean the difference between “It’s okay” and “This feels exactly right” for years.
